The city most travelers don't see

The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre are worth seeing. But Paris's best moments happen in narrower streets, quieter rooms, and places that don't appear on most itineraries. Cairn is built to surface them - at exactly the right moment, without interrupting your walk.

Places worth slowing down for

Architecture

Sainte-Chapelle

A 13th-century Gothic chapel with 15 floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows, hidden inside the Palais de la Cité. Most visitors to Île de la Cité walk past it entirely.

Hidden Gem

Passage des Panoramas

Paris's oldest covered passage, built in 1799. Stamp dealers, vintage booksellers, and unhurried cafés line a glass-roofed arcade that feels suspended in another century.

Museum

Musée de la Vie Romantique

A small museum in Montmartre dedicated to the Romantic era, set in a painter's villa with a tranquil rose garden. Almost no one visits. Almost always quiet.

Beautiful Place

Square du Vert-Galant

A hidden garden at the westernmost tip of Île de la Cité, sitting below street level. The Seine surrounds you on three sides. One of the quietest spots in central Paris.

Hidden Gem

Palais Royal Gardens

A colonnaded garden at the center of Paris, flanked by arcaded galleries. Locals come here to read and sit. Most tourists walk through without looking up at the architecture.

History

Chapelle Expiatoire

A neoclassical chapel built by Louis XVIII to honor Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Solemn, beautiful, and visited by almost no one despite being a few blocks from the Madeleine.
